Science Fiction Is For Everyone

L.A.ser Boy is dead, long live Alva Albish

January 13th, 2020

I haven’t posted here in a long time. The past year was busy with the stuff of life. Death and loss dominated but there were bright spots, too. My wife and I have kept to ourselves these past few months supporting each other in turn as needed. We have gone into our grief cave and come out in this new year with a re-aligned perspective on life.

In regards to my writing, the past year has both crystallized and shifted the material (L.A.ser Boy, et al) that I have been working on for the past two years. The Long Invasion series as it was envisioned, planned and even partly published is no more. The characters of the series, however, live on in a new work. This as yet untitled book(s) will start off with a character named Alva Albish. She is new to me but in just the short time that I’ve been telling her story, she has shown me where I was going wrong these past two years. She has shown me what I need to do instead. Where I need to start (with her), where I need to go (back to L.A.ser Boy and the United Protectors) and where I need to end up (back with her again). And so that is what I am doing. I will post sections of Alva’s story when I feel they are ready (and when she agrees to let me do so). I’m pretty sure she’ll win you over, too.

Have a wonderful new year, everybody.
