First Encounters

This book started as a totally different creature. I wrote a rough draft that was very much in the vein of the Nova Sol series.

It was good. I liked it. My wife liked it. But it was missing something. So, I started playing around with it.

I changed it from straight forward prose to an interview format (i.e. two characters talking to each other in a formal interview setting).

When I did that, it freed up the narrative. The story became more character focused than plot focused. I found myself wanting to figure out how these characters fit together. First Encounters is the story of Hala Osveld and Saha Montuse. It is the story of humankind making first contact with an alien species, the Hannu. It is the story of how a grand mystery can change us all.
